Thanks to a grant from the County of Santa Clara, residents of Alum Rock and Burbank are eligible for free trees and services!  This includes a site inspection, high quality trees, permits, site prep, tools, planting, stakes, mulch and a follow-up inspection.

arrow red2 Planet Tree Youth Education Programs - the "Planet Tree" environmental educational program offers free assemblies and in-class presentations for kindergarten through college-age students. Topics covered include the benefits of urban shade trees and how we can work together to preserve oiur urban forest. Sign up today for a free presentation!

arrow red2 Green & Healthy Programs and Workshops - want to learn to care for the urban ecosystem while connecting with green-minded neighbors? Want to learn simple and effective ways to use fewer natural resources while saving money and having fun?  Register for a Green and Healthy living course with OCF and get started!

arrow red2 Tree Tours - Put on your walking shoes and join us for a free tour! You will be introduced to some of the city's most interesting trees on a guided tour through various parks and neighborhoods in the area. You'll be amazed at all the trees you can learn to identify.

Planting and Care

tree bullet Get a Tree!We have 15-gallon shade trees available for yards, park strips, neighborhoods, parks, schools, and private property throughout San Jose. We also provide information, guidance, and services for planting, caring, and maintaining your tree(s).

tree bullet Community Nursery and Training Center  - Home to thousands of homeless trees, the nursery is a community service provided by Our City Forest to connect the resources of available trees to worthy planting projects ready to adopt trees. Come by our nursery during our open hours or check our calendar for upcoming events.

tree bullet Learn more about the program - a free 20-hour course designed to educate and empower individuals to become successful advocates of the urban forest.  We'll cover topics such as how to properly plant a tree, tree maintenance and species identification.  Check our schedule for training dates.

Special Programs

arrow purpleAmeriCorps - the OCF Americorps program mobilizes around 35 members for a year of full-time environmental service. This experience gives them the skills and opportunities needed to create change.

arrow purpleLiving Tree Christmas Program - every christmas, we allow residents to adopt a living christmas tree instead of cutting one down. Check out how you can adopt a tree of your own this year!
